My mum converted to Islam from Baptism, along with me and my brother, when i was 8. by the time i was 11, i knew the religion wasn\'t for me - i secretly read a children\'s philosophy book by Stephen Law which reassured me that it wasn\'t wrong to think for myself and not believe in god. I pretended to believe in everything my mum and stepdad wanted me to believe in, wore a scarf and jubbah, everything. then when i was 15 i found my estranged real father and half sisters on facebook, who offered me a place to run to when i turned sixteen. so that was what i did, now almost two years later im happier than ive ever been, because im allowed to voice my opinions and believe in what i want without being shunned or threatened 🙂
