I postulate that beliefs influence behaviour, I also believe in a persons right to self-determination. Therefore, the concept of apostasy is a troubling one. Anyone, no matter where they are has the right to adopt or reject certain beliefs without fear of reprisals. To reject beliefs that may have once been held so fervently must be a difficult wall to climb, but to know that another community of people who have suffered the same ordeal is awaiting them on the other side can add rocks which one can hold.
