Born in the UK, I have been raised in an Islamic household. I have never believed in religion (especially Islam). I went to a Church of England school and although my parents (pakistani) are muslim, they are quite liberal. I have told them that I am an arhiest and as much as they would like me to believe in the religion, they seem to understand that I have my own beliefs. I have always questioned the religion and read out pieces of scripture to ask questions, but I never get any answers. As all people who have grown up muslim will know, you are taught not to question the religion. I would like to join the CEMB because I once believed in the barbaric ways of Islam. I have been an athiest for many years but only very recently told my parents (although they knew a long time ago). I would like to be a part of the growing community of ex-muslims. To create a space for openness, honesty and safety.
