I am an ex-Muslim living in Yemen, a country where apostasy and criticism of religion are extremely dangerous. I have been openly expressing my atheistic views and criticism of Islam on social media for over 5 years under my real name. As a result, I have received multiple threats, and my personal phone number was publicly shared to incite harassment. I live in an area controlled by armed religious militias (the Houthis), and my life is at serious risk because of my beliefs.
I want to join the Council of Ex-Muslims to be part of a community that understands my struggle and to get support and recognition that might help me seek asylum in a safer country. The organization is vital for people like me who have no voice or protection in our home countries.
