Statement | I lived for many years in the city of Qom, which is one of the most religious cities in Iran. As a child, I felt the heavy shadow of religion in my life, and after starting my career as a primary school teacher, I found myself in the vicious cycle of radical Islamic teachings. According to the Iranian religious education system, I had to teach innocent children the same religious teachings that had become my nightmare. I decided to end this practice and forbid my colleagues to do the same. This had terrible consequences for me and my family, I was persecuted by the regime and I was forced to leave my country. Getting to know the ex muslim community in the UK is a valuable opportunity for me to make my voice heard in the free world. An opportunity to talk about the destructive effects of ideological education on the psyche of children. |
