I have recently left Islam due to the conflict I felt not only as a feminist and woman but having a Lesbian mother. I didn't realise when I first took Shahada what exactly it would entail. The Mosque has done a fine job of presenting a PG12 version of Islam. They forgot to mention that the prophet married a child and consummated his marriage with a child, hitting a wife into submission, sex slavery, torture and killing of apostates and gay people and hatred of Jews and Christians. I couldn't even read the Quran because of the anger it contains and threatening to send everyone to hell. I wish I never took Shahada.
