My family are dead religious, sent me to an Islamic school which left me unable to function in normal society, leading to a plethora of problems including depression and social anxiety. Finally got round to accepting myself as a human being, and atheist and a scientist (with thanks to CEMB) and life is currently quite good (still in the closet though).
