Girls and Gods by Inna Shevchenko will also be screened at the Austrian Cultural Forum London on Thursday 5 November 2026, followed by a Q&A with Inna Shevchenko and Maryam Namazie.
Inna Shevchenko of the Ukrainian FEMEN collective explores these difficult questions in candid conversations with priests, imams, rabbis and other activists.
As a feminist activist, Shevchenko, has spent years campaigning for the abolition of religion with her provocative demonstrations. But in her documentary ‘Girls & Gods’ she adopts a new strategy: conversation. From Copenhagen to New York, she meets female priests, rabbis, imams, theologians and atheists. While she remains critical of all religious institutions, she opens an honest dialogue with her religious counterparts and confronts the dilemma of what it means to be a religious feminist.
Inna Shevchenko will provide a brief introduction to the film and participate in Q&A following the screening.
Austria, 2025, 90min, English, French & German with English subtitles, directed by Verena Soltiz and Arash T. Riahi
