Statement | Born in a Muslim-majority country where blasphemy and apostasy are severely punished, my journey out of Islam was fraught with danger and fear. The societal and legal repercussions of questioning or leaving the faith were immense, often leading to ostracism, imprisonment, or worse. From a young age, I grappled with doubts and questions about my faith, but expressing these thoughts was perilous. The turning point came when I encountered online communities and literature that resonated with my inner conflicts. These resources provided me with the courage and clarity to pursue my path, despite the risks involved. The decision to leave Islam was not taken lightly; it meant severing ties with family and friends, and living under the constant threat of persecution. In addition to my personal journey, I have dedicated myself to helping others escape dangerous situations. Through volunteering with reputable organizations, I have assisted hundreds of individuals in fleeing oppressive regimes and finding safety. This work has been incredibly fulfilling and has reinforced my commitment to advocating for freedom of thought and expression. By joining the Ex-Muslims of Britain, I hope to continue this vital work, share my story, and contribute to a community that champions the rights and freedoms of ex-Muslims everywhere. |
